About Me
Well I’m sure if your looking at my cubical of cyberspace you probably have a pretty good idea who I am already, but incase you don’t heres a quick lesson on the life of Aaron Bates. I’m originally from a small town in Oklahoma called Pryor Creek. Some of you may know me as Atron… this is a nick name that was given to me in about 8th grade during a hellish Oklahoma football practice, and has stuck with me ever since. I graduated in ‘06 from MSU, where I majored in Computer Information Systems. I currently work as a project manager for a health software company in Ozark, MO. I also sell quite a bit of random crap on Ebay and Craigslist.
I am a self proclaimed Geek and proud of it. I have built quite a few custom PC’s and have tinkered with DIY projects and firmware hacking over the years. I also enjoy playing FPS and sports games. Looking forward to spending most of my free time in the fall playing the most anticipated game of all time HALO 3.
As most know I am a huge Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, and truely believe that thier music is some of the best lyrically, and musically ever produced on this green earth. Ronnie VanZant really knew how to speak his mind in the words of a song, and its amazing that 30 years after he died I can feel exactly the same way about things as he did, in my book that truely defines music… reaching all generations. I have been pretty involved recently in the Red-Dirt/Texas Country Music scene. I travelled traveled to Steamboat CO. to the annual RedDirt/Texas MusicFest. Got to hear alot of great bands meet some really cool people and we have already booked for next year. Last year the Snorty Horse Saloon moved to Springfield and Steve Greene (owner) has been pulling in top notch acts from the scene. Some of these include Randy Rogers Band, Stoney LaRue, Jason Boland, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly, Mickey & the Motorcars, Ryan Bales Band, etc. Lets just say I’ve been spending quite a bit of time there.
I’m a born and bread Dallas Cowboys fan and can’t wait for them to dominate season. I’m also a hardcore KC Royals fan… yes even through the bad times…but I still love ‘em. I watch cars go round and round whenever I get a chance and am partial to Dale Jr., and his prodigy Truex Jr.. Im an active NRA member and believe that every person should have the right to safely and securely own a gun, without being looked at as a criminal. In correlation I enjoy duck/goose hunting, as well as fly fishing.
As for politics I tend to side pretty much with Libertarians and The Elephants (Ron Paul ‘08), although there are always exceptions… I don’t think anyone truely supports every belief of a specific party unless they have been brain washed. I also classify myself as being a amatuer poker player whether it be crapchange in a weekly homegame, or a Ben Franklin at the nearest “Native American Gaming Center,” I’m ready to play. I also enjoy backpacking in the middle of winter, underground/urban exploration, and making short films. I also have become very interested in a phenomenon know as The Spooklight near Joplin, MO. I have created a project and produced a short documentary on the strange subject with my long time friend Rance Burger. You can view my spook light website here www.thespooklight.com.
